The customer brings a data-driven, cost-optimized approach to airline operations, supported by a modern all-Airbus fleet and a robust network of over 70 routes. Challenge

The customer needed to automate the analysis and validation of scanned flight manifests to reduce manual effort, errors, and processing time across high-volume operations involving identity verification, signatures, and structured content.

This process was traditionally paper-intensive and resource-heavy, generating environmental impact through printing, storage, and logistics.

Solution

Point B implemented the Viva Manifiestos web platform to digitize, validate, and archive flight manifests in a scalable, secure, and cost-effective way.

Previously, manifests were printed, signed, stored in physical binders, and manually retrieved for audits — an error-prone, time-consuming, and environmentally unsustainable process due to paper consumption and physical storage.

The new solution uses AWS Textract and Bedrock to automatically analyze manifests, validate them against flight data, and securely store them in Amazon S3, enabling:

Real-time validation and compliance reporting
Elimination of paper printing, storage, and physical retrieval
Reduced inter-airport communication overhead
Faster audit response
Improved data integrity and availability

The serverless architecture — built on AWS Fargate, Lambda, S3, Textract, and Bedrock — was chosen for its high availability, scalability, and energy-efficient resource consumption, contributing to both cost and sustainability goals.

Compared to alternatives, it offered:

On average, the implementation helped the customer to save over USD 1M annually by preventing incorrect charges from airport services and Airport Use Fees (TUAs).

Viva Aerobus replaced slow, manual, and template-based document analysis with a Generative AI-powered pipeline, achieving:

Faster onboarding – New airport groups can be onboarded in ~1 hour instead of up to a week.
Streamlined communication – Automated, real-time validation eliminated most phone-based coordination between airports.
Full digitization – All manifests are now securely stored and searchable in Amazon S3, replacing physical archives.

Use Case Transformation: The manual, pixel-based parsing process was replaced with a multi-layer AI workflow using Amazon Textract and Bedrock to automatically extract, validate, and structure manifest data, enabling real-time integration with operational systems.

Key Results:

1. System Adoption Rate – Post-implementation, document uploads grew by over 300%, far surpassing the 50% target. Users now actively engage with and trust the system for manifest processing.

2. Document Analysis Accuracy – Accuracy rose from 10% to approximately 98%, exceeding the 90% goal. Failures (≈2%) are mainly due to poor scan quality.

3. Operational cost savings – Serverless AWS architecture lowered infrastructure costs and freed staff for higher-value work.
